E-bike charging stations and maintenance for public administration: everything you need to know

It is now clear to everyone: pedal-assisted bicycles (e-bikes) are one of the most important trends in the two-wheeler industry and will continue to grow in the coming years.

According to the ‘Ecosystem of the Bicycle’ report by Banca Ifis, in the last five years in Italy, the sale of e-bikes has increased fivefold, from just over 50,000 units per year to 280,000 in 2020 (i.e. 14% of the total sold).

But that is not all. The industry expects to reach 17 million units in 2030, surpassing the sale of muscle bikes.

While demand and supply are growing fast, infrastructure must also grow at the same rate.

The goal is to guarantee an increasingly popular service, homogeneous throughout the country and adequate whatever the needs of those who use e-bikes or muscle bikes, such as tourists on holiday, experienced cyclists, workers, citizens and so on.

1. Improving the service offered to citizens, workers and students

Mobility – from the north to the south of Italy – is changing. More and more people are deciding to move around the city by non-polluting means of transport, including bicycles or e-bikes.

Suffice it to say that realities such as Decathlon, Fastweb, Alperia, Ikea, Lidl, the Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Padua, the Milan Polytechnic and the Turin Polytechnic, have for several months now included e-bike recharging and repair stations in their realities.
